- Look at the menu ahead of time. Sometimes menus at restaurants can be overwhelming, so it’s helpful to make a mental game plan before arriving. This way, you know what you want and won’t be distracted by too many choices.
- Don’t arrive overly hungry. Eating consistently throughout the day will prevent overeating on the bread basket.
- Drink plenty of water. Often, when we think we’re hungry, we’re actually just thirsty.
- Be mindful of alcohol. Alternate every glass of alcohol with water to keep the calorie count down and avoid making poor choices. Drinking alcohol during a meal can also make you more relaxed and less likely to make good choices.
- Share an appetizer and entree with someone you’re dining with. This allows you to try more flavors without overeating.
